In this interview series, we talk to sustainability heroes about the sustainability transformation in companies and the exchange of sustainability information. We find out everything about what drives them in their role, how they deal with ESG data and what factors they consider to be an efficient exchange of sustainability data.
Dominik Rose has been an Advisor for Sunhat since December 2024 and enriches the team with his extensive experience in product and user experience.
He is also the lead of Product Management & User Experience at SAP LeanIX, a leading B2B company in the field of Enterprise Architecture. In this role, he is committed to building an outstanding product culture and guiding the transition from a scale-up to one of the largest German software companies. In recent years, he has been instrumental in strengthening LeanIX through the development of features such as Customer Success Management and Solution Engineering.
Dominik Rose holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and an MBA.
Sunhat: What made you decide to take on an advisor role at Sunhat?
Dominik Rose: I am a big advocate of “lifelong learning” and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge of B2B SaaS product development. For this reason, I am also actively involved with ProductTank Cologne. My previous collaboration with Ali Kamalizade (Co-Founder & CTO Sunhat), as well as my acquaintance with Lukas Vogt (CEO & Co-Founder Sunhat) from the Capnamic ecosystem, made it easy for me to discover a common philosophy and vision.
Working with Niklas Sundberg, who as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer leads a group of IT experts dedicated to sustainable digital transformation, was crucial for me to understand the role IT strategy can play for sustainability and our planet.
I realize that Sunhat takes a similar approach - greener IT is not achieved through dogmatism, but by combining sustainability ambitions and needs with economic imperatives.
Sunhat: What makes outstanding software products?
Dominik Rose: In my experience at LeanIX, success can be traced back to these three principles in particular:
- The product should be developed for a broad target group, not just for software experts. A user-friendly design plays a decisive role in appealing to as many users as possible and meeting their needs.
- Instead of acting as a “Swiss army knife”, it is more effective to address a clearly defined problem as efficiently as possible. This guarantees that the product optimally supports companies in a specific area without getting lost in an excessive variety of functions.
- A strong ecosystem with complementary SaaS products is crucial for the success of modern software solutions. This is because cooperation with other SaaS solutions complements and strengthens the software.
All three points are also in line with Sunhat's vision for more efficient ESG reporting.
In addition, we are currently experiencing a technological upheaval, with generative AI opening up new opportunities to use data and create exceptional user experiences.
Sunhat: Is the demand for efficient software in the area of sustainability increasing?
Dominik Rose: Absolutely! We clearly see a need for structured and efficient solutions that go beyond mere compliance in this important area.
- Efficiency and transparency: Sustainability is a complex topic with a multitude of regulatory, social and economic requirements. SaaS solutions offer tools for collecting and analyzing data and precisely identifying areas for action. This saves resources and creates a valid basis for decisions.
- Collaboration and a shared vision: Sustainability cannot be achieved in isolation - companies and partners must act together. SaaS products facilitate this collaboration by sharing information and aligning all participants to common goals and tasks.
- Competitive advantage and investor relations: Companies that actively and professionally promote sustainability strengthen their market position, improve their risk assessment and appear more attractive to investors. A well thought-out SaaS solution helps not only to demonstrate ESG initiatives, but also to actively contribute to increasing the value of the company.
I am proud to be able to work together on innovative solutions as an advisor at Sunhat and look forward to the challenge!
